Graham completed his S4 project before Easter time and made a good job of it.
Graham downloaded lots of images of galleons from the internet, then evolved his own design, which Mr Black helped him simplify.
The sails are sheet brass, cut on the notcher, filed, then bent in a former that Graham made specially, to achieve the gentle curves.
The main sail has a small bracket riveted to it, which is fitted to the threaded main mast. To accommodate the turned aluminium crow's nest, the main mast is in two pieces, threaded together.
The smaller sails have holes drilled in them, and are fixed with wire to the masts.
Front view, showing that the ship's hull is wide with quite a flat keel.
The spindle of the clock motor has been fitted through a hole drilled in the sail.
The sail is large enough to hide the motor, when the ship is viewed from the front.

Side elevation.
The hull of the ship has received several coats of clear satin varnish.
The metal components are all 'self-finish' - no finish applied. This means that unless Graham periodically gives the sails and masts polish with Brasso, they'll become dull, eventually becoming a mid-brown.

Helen's water pistol was a complicated object to model, which has turned out really well. In particular, Helen found difficulty getting the main body to 'shell' (hollow out).
One half of the body was modelled as a solid, then shelled. After shelling, more modelling was carried out, then the component was duplicated, then mirrored.
